It is traditionally considered bad luck for a Siberoo to work on their birthday. Of course, no-one seriously believes this, but the tradition is an excuse to have one completely lazy day per year. (Although most Siberoos reside in post-scarcity societies where work is optional, they tend to have a competitive streak that keeps them occupied). The Birthday Joey gets to spend the entire day in the pouch. Because this is more-or-less what a 3-year-old joey is going to do anyway, Ranty’s mother Skalosak decides to take him for an air-sled ride for the day.
