SO- I debated about posting this on here bc cringe but cringe is dead and I am free.

The story behind this is Locke is the Patron Librarian of Inhumanities due to some bs that happened between LC and LoR and their assistant librarians are the Abnormalities and eventually those who distorted/manifested EGO such as Yan and Philip after obtaining their books (Philip is just from the Unstable Page of Crying Children so he isn't. even the real one) thanks to Angela making em somewhat human again.

Locke considers their floor to be the floor of second chances and after bearing witness to the troubles characters like Yan faced... they wanted to give them a second chance and was given permission to allow these folk to be assistants. Locke ensures Yan doesn't have to do any fighting if he doesn't want to considering Tomerry and Emmanoah are more of a supportive role themselves on the floor, sorting books instead of partaking in combat.

Yan decides to at least give it a shot... because at least in the Library, he no longer has to follow orders from the city's heart.

Locke has to ensure he doesn't relapse though- for he still may distort once more...

Also this gives me an excuse to be able to have my oc/insert interact with my fave character while still being in the Library--
