Description During Randolph Carter's interdimensional dream-travels through the universe he ends up in the distant past and possessing the body of a native Nug-soth on the planet Yaddith. The Yaddithians are described as having tapir-like snouts and terrible claws, as well as having features that make them a mish-mash of mammals, insects and reptiles. Going by the typically Lovecraftian way of describing random features but still leaving the whole appearance vague, this is how I imagined the creatures when reading "Through the Gates of the Silver Key": As a hybrid between a man-sized beetle and an armadillo, with face like that of a misshapen anteater. I must give props for HPL once again creating an alien species more alien than most later aliens in sci-fi.

Hey, give him a vest and a blaster-gunbelt and this Yaddithian would fit right in at the smugglers' hangout in Mos Eisley.

Its awesoome how these characters can be given such a variety of interpretations.

Agreed. As much as Lovecraft insists that his horrors are indescribable, he still goes out of his way to pile up adjectives and to describe random parts of them, but there is still plenty of room for interpretation. With this particular creature I've yet to see anybody draw them as bulky as I imagined them to be .

You are right. There aren't many interpretations of his and never seen such a bulky one either.

Something about Lovecraft's description of the Yaddithians' daily life made me imagine them moving like the crab-like Garthim in "The Dark Crystal", with a shuffling side-to-side motion, except with them being bipedal.

On that note, It would be awesome to see Lovecraftian monsters turned into puppets by the Jim Henson Creature Shop

My interpretation could have also be inspired with Dark Crystal, but more with an insectoid variation of the Skeksis.
