I did this for "iconManip-Contest:'s "Couples" Contest [link] for the advanced category. I went kind of wild on this
the end result of the tutorial should have looked like this it might disqualify me but it was certainly fun! And I am starting to understand more on layer masking thanks to Donna's tutorial...that always intimidated me, I think I need a little more practice with it before I'm comfortable using them. The inspirational stock images I referenced for how I colored the sky for my subtle sunset:

This is a lovely manip, but as you said, very different from the tutorial - even to the point it is not a sunset. But really nicely done anyway - good luck
