I think I got his design set. I want to make him look like how I imagine him and not too much like Alan but still keep some of his traits. What do you think?

Either way, no matter how much I keep trying to change him I always end up drawing his eyes the same way so they're officially his. You might never have noticed but I do give each of my -human- characters unique eyes. It could be something as subtle as slanting a corner, or as obvious as making them very wide open.
