Description Johanna von Ingelheim (Pope Joan)

Pope Joan is a legendary female Pope who, it is purported, reigned for a few years some time in the Middle Ages, probably in the 9th century.
Her legend tells us that she was a child prodigy, a brilliant scholar who was dressed as a man to can study and have a better life in a period where women were virtually slaves to their husbands.

This outfit is her wedding dress from the movie Pope Joan (2009). In the movie, she never married, because her village was attacked by the vikings during the ceremony, killing most of the population, including her brother Johann, who she would assume the identity in the monastery, beginning her ecclesiastical career that would become Pope.

This dress represents the carolingian peasant girl wedding dress, made in a rustic fabric and with a poor dyeing.

The Johanna's gender just was discovery because she gave birth to a stillborn baby during a procession, and died of complications soon after birth.

The shame for the Church was so great that her name was removed from the list of popes, but was made a kind of a chair with a hole in place of the seat, where the popes should sit for inspection so they could take their position as the supreme head of the church without their gender being questioned.

Amazing.
Few notes, according to the story she had green eyes with a ring of silver near the pupil, and blonde hair. If you wished to stick to facts.
OTHERWISE! It's amazing.
