What a beautiful shot! The focus is wonderful on the nearest pair of tulips, and I love the texture of them- so smooth and soft and seemingly inviting my hand to just reach out and stroke those delicate petals...

The colours are fabulous, and I love how the flowers seem to glow in the light, glowing a lovely, warm shade of yellow, dashed with a coat of red-orange. I really like the blue background, also, quite a strange colour as it's not what we'd associate with nature, but the primary colours in this photo work extremely well.

Maybe, I would have preferred it if the third tulip was in focus like the other two also, or else have it a bit further in the background. As it is, it takes my attention away from the nicely focussed ones a bit.

However, all in all, a really glorious shot. The tulips' open cup of petals bring to my mind wide, flowing dresses, singing of laughter and music and sunshine... e.deviantart.com/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart" />

You just gave me my first critique ever! Thanks a lot for your insightful comment!

I see your point about the third tulip, even though I personally don't find it distracting but see it as a kind of transition from the first two to the fourth one that is just a blur. Maybe it would have turned out better with another set of flowers where the third one was further back. They were generally grouped together rather closely, though, and I couldn't rearrange them (Botanical Garden shot).

I'm glad you like this one...tried to experiment a bit with narrower depth of field and with the colours.

You're most welcome!

It's a question of preference I guess, and if you like the effect, then that's that!

How on earth did you get such amazing blue colours?

White balance...and Photoshop Auto Color adjustment (but with fade auto color adjustment, otherwise it would have been even more blue).

Beautiful photograph β™₯
I have a request: Every Friday I send (email) a flower picture to my dear friend as token of my admiration, and affection for him. I was wondering if you had no objections if I used your beautiful flower picture to do this today Also, I maintain a "Flower Friday" journal where I post all the flowers I have sent every Friday, if you have no objections, I'd like to also put this picture up on my journal (it's not on dA). Of course, I give you FULL credit and I link back to you, too. Kindly write back to let me know if you have any objections to either of these things. Thank you very much in advance and thank you for taking such breathtaking photos!

So beautiful!
I love the contrast between the rather cold-coloured background and the warm-coloured tulips. I can imagine well how soft they must feel on the skin when you touch them. :3

These colors are extremely beautiful as well as the movement of tulips. I would not know how to say why, but there is of the musicality in this photography...

I tried to get the background as blurry as possible, otherwise it would have looked rather busy with all the tulip stems...
