Cleopatra VII Philopator (Greek : Κλεοπάτρα Φιλοπάτωρ Cleopatra Philopator ; 69[1] – August 12, 30 BC[2] ), known to history as Cleopatra, was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, briefly survived as pharaoh by her son Caesarion . She is still considered today as a symbol of power, beauty and feminine cunning. Cleopatra certainly was and still is one of the most influential women in the world, in view of her reign at the head of ancient Egypt and the achievements she made in life.

But...

As much as the Queen of Egypt is portrayed to this day as irresistible to men and known for using body and beauty to influence politics, the truth is that these were not the most relevant attributes of Cleopatra. In fact, what made her more attractive at the time was that she was a cultured woman who understood and spoke several languages, knew math, philosophy, oratory, and astronomy.

Whether with knowledge, physical beauty, with its wealth or power, Cleopatra loved to impress important foreigners and, let's face it, had numerous "weapons" that allowed her to do so. During the year 48 BC, for example, she received Julius Caesar in Alexandria, hidden in a carpet, since it was forbidden by her brother, Ptolemy XIII, to meet the visitor. It is said that when Cleopatra revealed herself, she wore such rich and dazzling garments that Julius Caesar could not resist her.

After that, Cleopatra and Julius Caesar continued to meet and hear other "triumphant arrivals" of the queen. She once dressed as Aphrodite, the goddess of love to Emperor Julius Caesar; besides putting his servants dressed as cupids.

Cleopatra, even in her historic promiscuity, deeply loved Marcus Antonius , with whom she had three children. They say that during the height of the passion between the two, around 41 BC, she and Marcus Antonius founded a drunken club. They say that this club was an excuse for many parties and bacchanals all year long, watered by lots of food and drink.

Although he was born in Egypt, the family's origin of Cleopatra comes from Macedonia. It is said that the queen's family came to power after the death of Alexander the Great; in 323 BC, when Ptolemy I, at that time one of the emperor's generals, took over the reigns of the government. From then on, this distant relative of the queen founded the Ptolemy dynasty, which lasted almost 3 centuries.
