Outstanding work!

The only problem I can see is his weapon (assuming this is a US Marine, anyways). Marines are issued the M16A4, although some units still have a few A2s in their armories. He's holding an A3 (with no front sight post), Marines have never used the A3. Also, he has an Aimpoint style sight, Marines only use either iron sights or the ACOG (or RCO, whatever you want to call it).

Still, impeccable work!

I'm assuming its left open after being fired...unless Marines are drilled to close it after each set of shots...?

I'm just giving you crap dude, we are trained to close it becasue it's suposed to keep dust out, but yea you did a really good job on that. Kudos and Semper FI

Damn! I must be gettin' old, a M4 & 4s what the hell are those? I Qual'd back in'91 with the standard issue M16A2 and shot a dissmal 'Marksman' with the 'Tonka toy' in Bootcamp! But, once this 'Desert Rat' figured it out I could put 9 out of 10 rounds in a B-Mod target at 500 meters, and have the 4 'Expert' badges. Until about a year ago I had never fired a weapon using the 'Red Dot Scope' but friend had a CAR15 that he had customized himself but was trying to 'Sight in' I Zero'd it at 200 yards and let him 'sight in' the Red Dot, I hate scopes, but once the 'Dot' was on, it was easy shootin'

The buttstock, PEQ2, and rail system make this an awesome picture. Good job!! One thing's missing, though: where the fuck is the front side post?

Oh, and also...

Hardly ever see red dot or holo sights. Mostly the ACOG now.

But it's still an awesome pic.

cheeseforthesoul [2006-11-12 07:13:59 +0000 UTC]

Haha, there's even a buttstock number. Awesome.

A note in lieu of the conversation below...

Marines still pack m16a4s. The only people who get m4s are either officers, plt sgts, Recon, scout/snipers, sometimes just random Marines who lucked out I guess. POGs usually have the old a2s, and there's a few commands in the Corps that still do, but by large it's the a4 being used. It's the Army that is going totally to the M4.

Yeah, I'm an Amtracker and I got an M-4. We got a few A-4s for the kids with 203s. I prefer the A-4. Just cause i grew up with it I guess.

I'm impressed, but curioius.

Most marines use the M4 as opposed to the M16 now a days but you still incorporate the M68(scope), PEQ2 (Infrared Laser pointer on the farthest most par of the barrell), the Surefure light with the pressure sensor, the unit designated buttstock number (34), and the single mag pouch attached to the end of the buttstock on the M16. Im just wondering if youre referancing off a picture, or have been in the service before?

Im impressed with this piece and cant wait to see the final rendition!! +fav

Yo Spec! i am serving my national service now, but we're using SAR-21s. As per the uh, info tt u've mentioned, haha, i noe most frontline troops in th marines r using th m4...probly th support dudes still haf th 16s left. dunno, i simply drew th 16, cos the stock is easier to draw..altho i try to keep it as true to life as possible. But i appreciate tt sumone actually notices all th detail i put into these stuff! the 3 most common attachments being th trijicon scope, peq n tac lite...:]

well i forgot to mention the flip up rear sight aperature... not a fan of it really but it does work and is convieniant as a last resort i guess you could say if your triji went down. but yes i noticed all your detail. i took a look at it later in my fav gallery and realized that had you not used the 16 the emplacement of the units buttstock number wouldnt have ever been in the pic and it does add its own little piece to the overall picture. again, great job and nice to meet a fellow soldier!

mouth In reply to MarcWasHere [2006-03-25 20:54:51 +0000 UTC]

Yes the Triji is a red dot scope. runs off batteries and istn as reliable as one would hope ( at least not in my opinion).

Im with Bravo Troop, 8-10 Cavalry Squadron, 4th Brigade, 4th I.D

I just wonder.
Is it made from a sketch?
Or do you like, draw it off a picture?
Just curious.
Cheers!
