Maresa - They are very common where we live in England and in southern Scotland - a bit of a pest even. It may be that the further north you go in Scotland, the less well adapted thy are to the climate.

Is it a UK bird? I was looking at a couple UK bird identifiers online and neither of them seems to want to give me an all black bird in that size.

I think it was a UK bird, but we are new here so I'm not sure if it was migrating or local.

I'd say it's probably a juvenile blackbird There are no cowbirds in Britain or anywhere else in the Old World. And if you compare the beak of any cowbird with the bird in your photo you'll see that your bird has a more slender beak

The colouring was very dark, almost black and it was one colour all over.Β  I have no idea.
