Description It was a gentle summer morning, birds eagerly chirping, the air warm and crisp. On my tiptoes I picked a few records off of my bedroom shelf, and carefully placed them on top of my record player and I carried them down the slightly creaky stairs. I gently plugged my record player into the plug socket by the printer. I opened the briefcase-looking record player to see a red dot, indicating that the record player was on. I gently plucked the record from its casing, which read ‘Sam Cooke: Greatest Hits’ and positioned it on the platter. I then delicately took the cover off of the needle and used the lever to lift and lower the needle onto the now spinning record. I laid down on the floor beside my record player facing the ceiling and closed my eyes, exhaling contentedly as I listened to ‘Bring It On Home To Me’. After the first side of the record finished playing (when I heard static), I lifted the needle off of the record and flipped it, returning the needle to its former position on the record, and laid down again. When the other side of the record finished playing, I softly took it off of the platter and sheathed the record.

I moved the recently played record aside and picked up a second one, titled ‘The Best Of Sam And Dave’ and carefully removed it from its casing. I took a moment to ponder over the beautiful design. It wasn’t like any other normal record, plain black. No. It was light pink and white, contrasting perfectly creating marble effect. I always wondered why most records were not made with unusual designs like this. One I finished marvelling over the LP I, once again placed it onto the platter, and used the lever to gently lower the needle on top. The first song that played was ‘Soothe Me’ , which had a beautiful calming rhythm. I then laid back down again and sighed gleefully, smiling and hummed along to the song.

This is the most amazing thing to do early in the morning, whether you dance to the music or not, it’s just peaceful and calming. You don’t care if passers by see you through the rather large open windows, you just vibe along to the music.
