Haha. Funny that you mention a movie reference. I actually used the cover of the Dirty Dancing DVD as a ref for this pic. But I can see how you might have seen Titanic.
And I love the little comment. Heehee.

I like the idea and the pose and the passion but I think a mistier, darker, and softer shading would further enhance the mood.
And I admire that you made your viewers aware about the origin of the background.

Thanks very much. I appreciate your kind words as well as your criticism.

I only just recently started making attempts at colouring. Shading is where I have most of my trouble. Direction, intensity... it's all mumbo jumbo to me. I'd like to become more familiar with it. Trust me... I did TRY to adjust the colours to make it a little deeper, but I botched it and went back to this.

Thanks again for your comments. Glad you took the time.

Photoshop. Have some tips?

Amberrant In reply to Margherita13 [2011-04-08 01:48:16 +0000 UTC]

Well, I've only started using the half-version of photoshop, and I prefer Corel Painter, but when I do use PS, I either magic wand select part of the line art and then use a partially transparent and large brush several times over to cause a deep, creeping shadow, on a new layer . But that doesn't always work with my crappy linearts so I might just use the same kind of brush of a new layer and erase what I don't want. Low opacity works well, each stroke progressively giving depth.
Maybe a little fuzzy shadow around the edge might add to the mood but I think I am just tempted to think that without reason, so ignore that.
Still gorgeous, by the by.

I have Corel Painter, but have only used it once. I know most of the short cuts for Photoshop I think that's why I stick to it.
As for the "partially transparent" brush... I should have done that. I didn't. :s
Thanks for all your help! I know I have a lot to lurn so I really do appreciate any advice.
