Description
This started as a new illustration to use in my commission chart but I changed my mind and decided to use a more neutral...subject...So I'll use a pic of something cute like Akamella in the forest with her animal friends and stuff xD
Lately I've been thinking about my tastes in aesthetics and drew the conclusion that what I love is unconventional beauty. I rarely find "normal" beautiful people attractive or even pleasant to look at. I hate how society wants to you be individualistic but only promotes a certain type of beauty. And no, having colored hair, tattoos everywhere and weird make up doesn't count as "unconventional". These people all end up looking the same and I don't like that. I especially hate male beauty standards. It's incredibly boring and you can feel that it was put in place so men don't have to make any effort to look nice/interesting. You just have to be tanned, have black/brown short hair and a beard. I despise this because I've recently learnt how destructive these standards are to the self-esteem of men who don't look like that. I can't stand there and watch my gorgeous husband tell me how he hates being pale because people think it's creepy...
Let's stop being negative and talk about all the beautiful people I met in my life...Gosh, weirdos are gorgeous xD I tried showing pictures of friends and strangers I find beautiful to people like my mom and others...I can't believe they don't see why I like their appearance so much. The way they all look like no one else, the shape of their face, their strange nose, their skin color, their clothes etc...Why can't everyone see them? They deserve to be praised way more than your average Kim Kardashian and Ryan Renolds...I also feel like me liking rare physical features over standard beauty increases as I age. For instance, I'm a little obsessed with the actress Tilda Swinton because she pretty much embodies my point...And I had a crush on her in the movie where she play as Gabriel the Archangel.
Hey, that sounds pretty much like how people treat snakes compared to "charismatic animals" like mammals and birds, and how a lot of them are blind to their superior beauty!...
Yes, I think about all of that while staring at Kaduceus and thinking about how weirdly beautiful he would look IRL...
