I don't think I have to explain my mother. EVERYONE knows my mother. Good for nothing except popping out me and my brothers. My father, however, is a mystery to me. Mother says he left me after he thought I might die from the marking. I think he left when he realized what a monster she was to try and infect my wound. Either way, I know nothing about him. I don't trust my mother to tell me either - probably just another poor stallion that she seduced.

(The truth: his name is Rills. An Appaloosa cross stallion who was born into the Bachelor Herd, just a regular young stallion following the rules and traditions of his herd. While he was a good scavenger, he made no waves, and stood out to no one. But one horse stood out to him - the beautiful Bat-Sheva, who was slowly working her way back up in the herd. He idolized her - became obsessed with her. From her looks to her personality she had no flaws in his eyes, and no bad word whispered about her ever reached his ears. But his own lack of confidence left him at a distance for many years. It was by complete chance - or perhaps she had exhausted all the other stallions - that she came to him one night. Their son, Tobias, was born, and he was thrilled. Not only did he have proof of his tryst with the Lady Brood, but she had produced yet another son to strengthen the herd. His pride caused him to be rather overzealous when it came time to place an X on the foal's face, and the marking was rather large and sloppy. But it was by no one's fault except nature's that the foal became ill, an infection entering the wound and setting into his blood. Only two days later it was obvious to Rills that the foal would not live. He could not bear the thought. He had failed his herd, and he had failed Bat-Sheva. That same night he left, feeling that there was nothing left for him in the herd. His status is currently unknown.)
