Description Wow this is very very Russian.

I've been working on this for a while now, but certain circumstances got in the way. My pen broke at first, then my mom had to go to another city for a trip and took the pad I'm drawing on with her. And finally, after half a month, this is done.

I was inspired by summer nights in my hometown of Moscow. You may know that I drew a similar piece a year ago: www.deviantart.com/mariebite78… , but the whole composition, characters and style are very different, only my feelings remain unchanged. I love May very much. Here you can really smell the presence of summer in the air when long awaited warmth comes after winter. I don't know wether it's the same at your place, because no matter how far I travel, I think you have to live in a certain place in order to feel such minor things. But those minor things are what makes us love the said places, you know?

I drew two of my most beloved characters here - they are Mariya and Bert. Bert probably came to visit Mariya in Moscow, and now they are sitting on the roof of her house, watching the stars and just enjoying each other's company. Yes, these two can actually sit like that without aiming on each other's throats, though as my irl friend pointed out, the very next moment they'll probably end up killing each other or kissing. The tower in the back is actually Ostankino tower, one of Moscow's many landmarks.

I am uploading this today because, let's be real, I'll forget to upload it any other time.

There's something very... tender to this artwork. ^^ I don't know, maybe it's the soft lighting, maybe it's the calm, night setting with the moon and the asleep city, or maybe it's Mariya and Bert's relaxed and almost intimate attitude. But when I look at this, I feel at peace And it definitely gives me summer vibes! That part of the year when days are hot, but nights are fresh enough to be outside enjoying the breeze, with just shorts and a T-Shirt on, and you don't have to worry about going to bed early because AYYY no school! *dabs*

But seriously: wonderful artwork, it gives me powerful emotions :'3

Thank you so much for pointing this out! Now that summer is over and that this slow lady finally finds these comments in her notifications, I really should say that this piece is even nostalgic. Daymn, I wanna turn the times back so badly right now...

Thank you once again! I really appreciate your support <3

AAAAA Thank you so much!
You definitely should visit in May, in fact, May and June are literally the only months you can really enjoy it here because it usually rains later xD

Thank you! Though I don't know, it depends on what you're into. Moscow is a huge city and your area is rather quiet. So I think there is no winner here

yeah true. My area is very quite but Edinburgh was such beautiful and an energetic place. I only even been to 1 city so i don't have much to compare it to if i got to Moscow.

Sometimes the quite can get quite boring :')

Oh I can imagine, I've never been to Great Britain. I think England is very overrated, but I'd really want to visit Scotland some day. The sottish nature is just so fascinating!
Well we're always learning! To be honest I haven't been to the countrysides much because it always ends up with my dad driving me home
Oh I know. This must be terrible! D:

Scotland is an amazing place to visit ^^

There is not many trees here so its mostly heather and hills but when the heather berries come out damn the hills are a burgundy purple color amazing!

Oh on that's a shame.

It may get boring sometimes but people say you think about the best things when your bored.

I think I know what the nature at your place looks like, I’ve seen those beautiful movies featuring the scenery and we also learned it all in our English classes xD

At least it’s not that cold in your place xD

It is said that in the 30s they found an ancient skull in the canal I cycle near every weekend. The skull is believed to be the oldest evidence of the presence of humans in Europe xD

Do people in Russia actually sit that close to each other? I've heard that most Russian personal bubbles are larger than American's, and that's saying something XD

mariebite787 In reply to Pone-Dancer [2019-05-29 12:15:20 +0000 UTC]

Only with people we know and love. I don’t mind sitting like that with my relatives or friends. But yes, Russian people do need more personal space.
However, if someone unfamiliar decides to touch me then I’d bite their fingers off. Because I’m not just a Russian, I’m a motherfucking Muscovite xD
