Description This took a bit longer than the other two but it came out decent enough. I think I'll go ahead and do the treasure chest because it almost got as many votes.

This is a cool animation ! Very cute !

The pros :

- The pastels colors and the pixel effect give dynamic for the move
- The animation is fluify, the move of the hat and the braid accented the rotation
- The expression of the character (mainly the blinking eyes) give "pep's"
- The move of the sword... oh wow ! Awesome, I have nothing to add lol

The lessers :

- The background is a little dull
- The frame of this animation is to large in my opinion
- You should sign your animation ^^

Well, this is my first critique, I'm not a pro with animation but I wanted to give my opinion. Keep it up ! :3

It's a sprite for a game, the background is suppose to be a single color so I can remove it later.

This is really cool, and I love your animation style, but as someone who is interested in this stuff, theres just one nit pick I have. You have good motion and follow through, but the start up doesn't imply that much anticipation. A rule of thumb I follow is to always consider how the ENTIRE body implies a motion. For example, if you were to have her body twist torwards where she pulls back her sword before she spins to create a sense of power and momentum that leads into the spin. Cause I see both half of her body sword spread away from each other in the starting pose and it sort of acts against itself

Heres an example that utilizes the sorta thing I'm refering to baston.esn3s.com/hitboxesDispl…

First, I updated this gif. It has nothing to do with your complaints, but this is an old version. I just accommodated for her new hatless design:

Second, I initially found this concept to be difficult considering a major factor of Marii's design. Her body is both a noodle and one solid color. I suppose that I can have the shield and cape move in the other direction of the wind up, but beyond that I don't really see much I can change. If she moves her head, it would look like she's taking her attention away from the enemies, something she wouldn't do because she both a competent fighter and part of a species that can turn their heads in almost any direction.

It won't be difficult at all to change the shield given how polygonal it is, so I will consider it.

You could still have her facing said enemy but twist her body a bit. You wouldn't need to do much, you could simply have her lean/twist towards where she's pulling her sword back, so she has lee way to generate momentum for the swing, and her arm doesnt FEEL like its doing all the work. Cause really the rest of the animation is absolutely fine. Its just the start that causes a small disconnect. You basically got it, its all about just using the rest of the body as well to imply the generation of momentum

After 30 minutes or so of attempting this, I have come to the conclusion that repairing this would require much more than you suppose it does.

The only thing I can imagine that would help without taking a drastic amount of time out of my normal animating schedule would be having the should rise up more.

I love the follow-up of this animation!
The hit is swift and clean, and the hair and bonnet do a great job emphasizing it.
10 outta 10, would rererewatch again.

This is so adorable and very fluid. I love her design and the lack of black line work really works for this. I don't even know this character and I love her already.

Ill be honest, I keep coming back to this comment and it just makes me smile. "I don't even know this character and I love her already." This makes those three days of animating during college sooooooooo worth it.
