Description I was thinking of the places where Fi ends up according to the end of each of the Zelda Timelines. In the other two, the sword goes back to the stone for the next hero. Here, she dies with the rest of the kingdom she basically helped establish.

I didn't think too hard about it until I realized that the Master Sword was confirmed to rust in Breath of the Wild. If anybody has seen a picture of the Titanic lately, you know where I'm going with this.

The rust isn't a water caused a effect in Breath of the Wild. The rust I think may be damage from the malice that has infected the guardians (Like metal in contact with acid) or Magic depletion has weekend the Master Sword. Perhaps both but neither should happen in the Wind Waker timeline.

I fully expect the Master Sword to wash up on some beach or in an ancient grove once the water recedes.

I like to think that Link and Tetra went back for the Master Sword and placed it somewhere in New Hyrule

There is a 180-year gap between the begginings of the steam locomotive and the discovery of the Titanic. By the time Link could get the sword back, he could have witnessed the publishing of the first Zelda game. How meta.
