Description In an ongoing commission project I've been tasked to visualize a variety of fantasy races based on various elements like fire, water, stone. This time with a summoner baiting what looks like living fuel.

I have a bit more criticism of this one in terms of lighting. Again, her fire hair doesn't define the piece - still a good thing - but the decision to make the fire in front of her the primary light source splits her down the middle into light and dark. This is especially noticeable on her face, where her cheekbone and the curve of a dimple is the apparent edge of her face. The division there is very sharp, and - especially since her face is smaller and less detailed than in the first piece of this series - makes her look oddly angular. Her legs are also a bit odd - the lower portion of the leg is oddly smooth, without any real musculature or skeletal definition at all, making it look a little bit like a tube of meat.

The bag in her right hand is a bit odd. She's presumably tossing it up and catching it, but the lack of any indication of motion also makes it look weirdly like it's just floating there. That said, there are few good ways to convey motion in a static medium, so this might still be one of the better options available for it.

Her clothing is, again, very well designed, and I particularly like the use of jewelry on the horns - there's little reason to assume that a race wouldn't put jewelry somewhere like that, though the exact mechanisms behind how it would be put on and removed are best left unexplored. It's all very simple, but it works quite well - the layering of furs, for instance, creates the sense that this is part of a larger cultural style that is left unseen.

The fire that she's summoning is superb, and avoids the stereotypical "flames shaped like an animal" shortcut. Though it isn't shaped like an animal, it very clearly has life to it, and it seems to be almost curious about what she's doing.
