Agreed. It's not shoved under the rug nearly as much as it once was, but there's still much progress to be made.

That is a bit of a strong message. It "speaks" for itself. It is true: there's a lot of suicide- too much actually, and the piece shows that. Nice job (in a positive sense, not the mean, sarcastic way).

I'm sorry to hear that... I'd help, believe me, but I just don't think I'd know what exactly to say or how to help. Plus, if I tried to help but failed, I would feel so terrible about it. It'd be as if I killed someone.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I just felt like my high school administrators where really indifferent about it. They didn't even put a memorial page in the yearbook for everyone we lost those years. I just thought it was terrible for them to be that way.
Also, we had like four kids die in a car crash one year [before I even got in high school] and they kept bringing the parents back to encourage kids to be safe and make good choices but they never had anything like that about suicide or depression.

Well that's stupid. Not one dedication page or anything? That's really inconsiderate of them not to even say "In honor of so-and-so who tragically committed suicide..." and everything. Did anybody say anything?

Nope, they had one announcement the day it happened and they had our counselors available to talk (but they weren't really guidance counselors they were more like...people to help you pick out classes and figure out college stuff).
Anyone, not one page. I mean there were other kids too it wouldn't have to be a whole page for one kid.
I think their supposed reasoning is that it "promotes suicide" or something.
