Ubuntu е просто дистрибуця, не го асимилирай с Linux. Това може да се постигне с всяка една дистрибуця, която ползва графична среда Gnome.

You need to install mystatusbox plugin.
When the installation is over you need to configure the plugin.
Click the configure button then just tick 'hide global status selector'.
That's it.
