As I’ve already told ya, these two are second cousins. As you can see here, Viktor is quite a kid here, and Lidya is a bit older. Which she is.

I bet Tiel has a good explanation of Viktor’s behavior herself, but I had an effrontery to come up with my own version of his past. And now… Tiel, please, don’t faint away!!!! Just don’t read it if my shameless manipulations with your characters irritate you!
Yeah. What had happened in my quasi-reflection of Ti’s world. In the beginning both Viktor and Lidya had equal origin – very rich people’s children. They grew up together and had really friendly relations. Their fathers had a common “family” business which was quite profitable, and the children always had what they wanted. But once upon a time Viktor’s father had a deal with some unreliable people, who defrauded him eventually, and this failure almost halved family’s wealth. After the accident all the shareholders and Lidya’s father as a controlling interest’s owner decided to cast out the loser. That day Viktor’s family changed from rich men into paupers.
After he knew what the need is, Viktor swore himself that one day he will become more rich and famous than his double uncle is now, no matter means and methods he would use.
In spite of the fact that father forbade her to communicate with Viktor hereon, Lidya secretly continued to support him. Innate precaution, reading detective stories as a hobby and perfect self-control allowed her not to be caught. She often helped Viktor, but always did that invisibly for him (tehehe not every guy’s pride can survive saving by a girl ). She even lended him initial capital for his future business in adulthood, which he used successfully… or he thinks so
As a result Lidya used to overprotect her younger double cousin and always saw in him the little frightened kid who was betrayed by his own uncle. Maybe that’s why she didn’t seem to notice his plural defects in childhood and the thrifty monster he was turning into much later. But maybe someone can open her eyes?
The story has its continuation, but that’s enough for this time.
