I like seeing competent bad guys. Makes them seem way more like a threat. Sure, some goofy minions are okay to bring in some humor, but if this... this, my friends, in competent villainy right here.

I Agree. Eventought I love to make some good comedy I also like some good drama and every comic needs some. And Strong villains also give the characters motivation to improve. ^_^

*sigh!* Why Mariko's friends have not rescued her? In her place, I would bewear these (bad) advices from an enemy from a mafia team because they must seek to discourage us (so would not believe him/her).
Also, in the last case of this page, when Vince is throwing Mariko on the floor just to bellitle her more, it might be a move to play down...
I know everything is not joy even into a fiction, but I hope the other Trainers of Platinium may step in after her defeat (this is not so shameful!), to be able to save the stolen Lucario egg...

Even thought it feels to us like this fight has lasted like foever, in the comic the time has moved forward much quicker. So it takes time to her friends to look their own forest area, before they start to look each others out.
