Description
The full title is: 'Jennifer's Cave (aka: the quest for the Dutch gold egg timer.) This was something I did for my friend Jennifer, a fellow horror-whore from Canada, and a ridiculously beautiful person both inside and out The title is a silly play on the Greek myth of 'Jason and the Quest for the Golden Fleece' by Pindar, which I was reading at the time, and the accompanying imagery around Jennifer just seemed to grow organically as ideas popped into my head once the painting got under way. I threw I blue flying monkey in there from the Wizard of Oz, too along with some other creatures and some Canadian flora. The overall theme was basically to celebrate the horror genre and friendship- although there's more than a hint of Hieronymus Bosch in there, too; albeit in modern dress. The figure on the left about to insert a red hot poker iron up their anus was inspired by a funny comment I heard about Brexit. (It's as if people collectively voted to have a red hot poker shoved up their arse.)
