This is from a photoshoot I did with my friend Tawhai. He needed some promotional shots for PHAT where he is playing at 1am new years morning - this is one of the best spots for an NZ artist at one of the biggest dance festivals of the year in NZ.
I shot this in the studio at tech - single light with a snoot. Long exposures allowed the ambient light to come through to make the deck lights pop. It also gave some cool movement blurs behind the figure frozen by the flash.
This one is a result of getting a little crazy with the flash - I was using 3 and 4 second exposures to get the motion blur when I figured I could push the flash test button on the wireless trigger! It all went from there and this is one of the best results!
