this is another attempt to add gundam style to transformers. i did it as a thank you to the guys at cybercon 2005 for asking me if i wanted to come to there con. like i would say no to going to new york. thanks guys hope you like the piece.Related content

I cannot stress this enough: Transformers need to be drawn like this! I simply love the Gundam (another of my favorite mecha series) influences. makes them look more bad ass!

What do you use for art supplies? What brand names? For example, how big of a drawing pad do you use? What kind of pencils, etc? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks.

i use .Too manga manuscript paper ( B4 135 size)
-udon comic paper (11x17 size)
-papermate tuff stuff eraser stick
-pilot mechanical pencil 0.5mm
-pentel 120 A3dx 0.3mm mechanical pencil
-pentel graphgear 500 0.5mm mechanical pencil
-pentel graphgear 1000 0.5mm mechanical pencil
-sakura micron 01 tech pen
-sakura micron 005 tech pen
-sakura micron 05, 02, 03 tech pens
-Faber-Castell black brush pen
-various elips templates, circle templates, ship curves, french curves, set squares.
-staedtler rulers
-FW white acrylic ink
-higgins black magic ink
-h, hb, pencil leads.
thats all i can think of right now for doing comic art.

Gundam and TF's are amazing together. Just trying to keep the Gundam feel from overpowering the piece is hard. Great work. Maybe I will get my lazy butt into gear and post some of my stuff.

Yes, more Gundam-like TFs are a good thing! 
Seriously though, the Autobots and Decepticons are machines designed for war (especially the Decepticons if you follow the TV backstory), but the cartoon and even more recent comic designs didn't fully present that. But here you've got MAgnus in full battle gear and multi-missile packs on his shoulders - like an Autobot WARRIOR should look.
Now, the one criticism I could level against this is that the design is almost a little TOO detailed, making it look kind of blurry in some parts. But other than that, good work.

most of the time with tf art the black and white art can look a bit blurry, but the original being bigger is eary to read. however i'm sure that it will be easier to look at when it's colored. i'm not sure when it'll be done, but it will be done.

Seriously; Metroplex looks awesome(and friggin huge, as he should XD), and your Magnus looks powerful! I can't tell who the others are, but they look awesome as well o . o !

I remember when you showed me this in the hotel room. You and Joe helped inspired me to try drawing things a little differently and not just in a TF way. As for the pic itself, the only thing I can think of is the area where Magnus is feels a bit too cluttered. The bot behind him is hard to make out because of it. Still, it's a beautiful picture and I love how you combined elements of Gundam design and still retain much of the original features of Ultra Magnus.
