Description Nothronychus is a strange looking animal. It was a north american therizinosaur, a group of herbivore theropods famous for the asian Therizinosaurus. It had the iconically big claws, and many people believe that it was a sort of cretaceous anteater\giant sloth. Being a maniraptoran, it almost surely had a very thick coverage of feathers. In this reconstruction I decided to make a naked belly (NOTE: not scaly but covered in bare skin), as a possible adaptation to the large amount of heat produced by the fermentation of vegetal matter in its intestines.

Its tail is instead a homage to Rodrigo Vega and Vlad Konstantinov, a couple of great artists who made really interesting concepts\3d models for games like "The Stomping Land" and "The Isle".

Isn't this a species of therizinosaur? But whatever it is, this looks breathtaking!

Yes, it is a strange therizinosaur from north America. Truly strane animals, I would compare them to a mix of anteater/Chalicotherium/ground sloth.

Thanks! I love therizinosaurs too, they are such a mistery. Well, what I would love to know is mainly if they had long, wing-like feathery structure on their arms or not. It's hard and fascinating to imagine that!

You're very welcome! ^^ And yes, it would indeed be interesting to learn more, there is only so much that fossilized bones can tell us, more detailed preservations would be awesome! ^^
