Description

This is a meme which I found last night, and I decided to give my own spin on it. As the likes of The Doors, Tina Turner, Selena, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, N.W.A, Queen, Elvis Presley, and Bob Marley have their own biographical films, here are some acts whose own stories deserve the big screen for one reason or another.

8. 2 Live Crew

Admittedly, they may not have been the best rap group (which is actually the reason I would rank them so low), but nevertheless their controversy back in 1990 would make for a great story, kind of in the vein of a film like The People vs. Larry Flynt (great movie, by the way). Besides, it is unreal in hindsight how something like a sound recording would be deemed illegal to sell, and As Nasty as They Wanna Be was just that in Florida prior to 1992.

7. David Bowie

Should I have to give this an explanation?

6. Isaac Hayes

There was a lot more to him than merely doing the Shaft theme song and voicing Chef on South Park for nine seasons.

5. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

Their lives and career are very much a gold mine for a biopic. Bizzy Bone getting kidnapped by his stepfather as a young boy, the group signing with Ruthless (and ending up at odds with said label after Eazy-E died and his wife started calling the shots), Flesh-n-Bone's incarceration from 2000 to 2008, the list goes on. And yet they only got a brief mention in Straight Outta Compton (when DJ Yella visits a hospitalized Eazy-E, presenting him with a demo tape of Bone).

4. Nirvana

Even if their discography stalls at only three albums in four years, and a sizeable amount of the film would be likely to concern Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love's marriage and Kurt's untimely death, nevertheless the band which officially gave the '90s an identity deserve their own biopic.

3. Run-DMC

This trio was important in the development of hip hop, of course they deserve their own biographical movie (not counting Tougher Than Leather). But, of course, what happened to Jam Master Jay will surely dominate the latter half.

2. Marvin Gaye

This man was a key figure in '60s and '70s soul, of course a biopic would do him justice.

1. Prince

As he had issued 39 albums in his lifetime (and not even Michael Jackson has that many), the Purple One absolutely deserves a biopic.
