Growing up in the sixties, war was brought into our living rooms via satellite and body counts were reported like a Sunday game of football.
It made me sick, and fearful, knowing some day I would join those writhing in pain from limbs being blown away. By the time I went to the recruiting office, the draft had recently stopped, and they sent me home...relieved.
That war was over and I was full of hope that my country, and perhaps our world would cease the madness of killing.
But no.
Foolish I suppose.
It seems more than ever, I fear even more for my children and their children.
Our world has moved so far away from peace and even common courtesy.
Wallowing in our own self importance, we have become the despised animal on the planet.

I apologize for such seriousness.
