Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar system, the planet closest to the sun, which bears the name of the god Hermes. Mercury patronized merchants and thieves. Mercury is a very fast planet. It rushes around the Sun 3 times faster than the Earth. That is why the planet was named Mercury – in honor of the ancient Roman god of commerce, famous for his speed. Despite this, Mercury is very lonely - this planet has no satellites.
Mercury was depicted as tall and very cheerful, dressed in a winged helmet and sandals — for speed of movement. In his hands, the deity holds a caduceus — a magic wand with wings, entwined with two snakes, a symbol of eloquence.
