I like it overall. There is a nice sense of depth to it. Every time I see it out of the corner of my eye, I think that the grass is rippling gently in the breeze.
However, there was one thing that confused me, overall. Or, rather, would confuse me were I playing this as a video game. In most cases, the foreground is clearly distinct from the background through the use of the lighter shades. However, the first pipe, directly is front of Mario, is part of the background, yet has the stronger shades to it. As a player, this would make me assume that it is part of the playable area. After running through it, I would assume that the pipes are part of the background, which would cause me to run into the next pipe.
Overall, I think it looks amazing. Were I to look at it solely from a perspective of the quality of the picture, I would find no faults. It is only when viewing it in terms of a video game that the one issue arises.
