Well, here it is folks; my entry for the vs 2011 art challenge
In order to move an entire mecha racing team from A to B, you need big trucks boys and girls. Introducing the Mack Titan IX, in Overdrive racing colours. Hope ye like!

Did you know that you can upload your 3D models to a 3D printing place (like Shapeways or i Materialise) and get them printed? You'll be charged for the materials, but you'll get to have a solid version of your artwork! You have to set up an account with Shapeways. I dunno about i Materialise though.

WARNING: Not for use on country roads. Or city roads. Or suburban roads. Or anything that's not a highway. Seriously, don't even try it. It won't work, and you'll piss everybody else off because your vehicle barely fits on the freaking pavement.
But presumably, in this future, there are nice, wide multi-lane roads for everywhere that such nice mechs would need to be moved.

Very nice marrekie. This style has a perfect blend of futurist and functionality that really makes a solid design. And while i love the stark rendering of sketchup, it would crazy cool to see this in some sort of realtime engine with full difuse, spec, and normal mapped texturing applied. Perhaps a collab? >_>
What is the average time to complete projects like these, from concept to finish?

Wow, that's cool. I like that it looks futuristic and advanced while maintaining the elements we would recognize from a large semi-truck. That's often a difficult thing to accomplish I think and you've pulled it off wonderfully. Well done.
