this is awesome i love how it looks. just wanted to say i have been working on my own mecha design but hit a deadend until i looked at this it gave me inspiration on how to do my mecha's arms by looking at your mecha's legs that being said i am not copying any of you're design just using it as reference and wanted to say thanks for creating this thing and helping me break that deadend so that i could create/finalize my mecha.

thanks for you're reply and you're welcome i have some of it done but its still just a rough sketch at this point but i will post the rough sketches and the completed mecha when i'm done. i'm not good with digital art so i'll probably ask my sister if she could help with cleaning it up and coloring it but yeah its my first time drawing a mecha and i've been wanting to do so for a long time but i was always psyching myself out. as far as my mecha goes with how it looks i'm quite happy so far. i dont know when i will post it but if you check my deviant page from time to time over the next few weeks or whenever it should be up if you dont want to that fine to lol.

Looks kinda like an AT-AT, but the guns were replaced with arms.

I could actually see this if we ever get the tech to traverse the expanse of space more easily and the government give funding to whoever would make them.

(of bruut vet, whatever floats yer boat)Β

Hey Len, long time!

my only comment would be that it would be interesting if those big arms could unload the payload part of the vehicle. i love the look btw

Marrekie In reply to mikemars [2016-12-31 19:21:47 +0000 UTC]
I'm glad you like this one, my man! The arms have enough reach (especially the secondary arms), but the mech probably can't unload itself. For a pair of mechs it wouldn't be a problem though.
I think of the containers as mission pods, used to support exploratory missions in difficult terrain. The arms could easily deploy small rovers or other surface equipment from the pods. The arms could also be used to assemble larger structures, using materials from the pods.

thanks man, i have a ton of models I've never up loaded before. when I was first trying to use sketchup as an artist your work was some of the first stuff that would pop up. I like what you're doing we should talk more often not a lot of people using it for concept art strangely enough

One of the things I have enjoyed about a lot of recent mech designs has been the willingness of artists/designers to contemplate form factors other than the pure humanoid shape. Interesting work here.

Also I like the fact that you gave the mech large feet to spread out the ground pressure when walk on soft ground. Question did you envision it for operation on places like Mars?
