It's a little redundant. I made two identical models for his bottom half, one that showed skin and the other didn't. I then exported two images, one that showed skin and the other didn't. Then I used paint.net and copy-pasted some of the skin image onto the not-skin image in a torn pattern, then used a simple fishnet pattern over the skin to make it look like his suit was tearing.
