I feed corn to the doves in winter. There's a Cooper's hawk that lives up the road, she appreciates that too. I found down feathers and a couple of wing feathers this morning, but a lot less than I usually seen after a hawk hits a dove. I didn't find the usual secondary feather spot either. It's possible but unlikely the dove got away. The hawk has to eat too.Related content

These feathers are remnants of a natural phenomenon, the fight for life, which governed the animal life... and plant.
This struggle is sometimes violent, but for animals it is done without hatred, except among the men.

I understand you and I agree. The majority of humans try to live in peace and harmony with their neighbours, without regard to race, social status, religion... (the list of our difference is long)... but a minority prefers to bring hatred and cruelty.
I hope that at the end of this fight, reason will prevail

I know i have a raven that lives in the woods by my house and a suckle bush that the snow birds live in... and my dog loves to jump on the bush and make them all go flying up in the air... but the raven loves it even more because he then attacks the snow birds

They sound like an extended family. I enjoy seeing small birds chasing big ones, like kingbirds after crows.
