It made me smile, but I wanted to add this to the conversation and I would welcome anyone correcting me: Tom Porter, Mohawk spiritual leader, said that this haircut was worn during warfare because the Creator dislikes seeing his children kill each other out. So warfare was considered a moment where men lost their sanity and entered a period of insanity; that insanity was symbolized in the haircut. The scalp is where the soul is; that is why hair was preferably kept long when not mourning: it was a link with the Creator. So cutting and shaving it so was no laughing matter.
This might not be the -exact- information, as I am not a Mohawk from that era (in fact I'm no Mohawk at all, I'm from way South), but this is what I "know".
Oh, the mohawk haircut today can be laughed at, especially since most people I see wearing it are 1: not even Native American 2: even less the warrior kind, but in Connor's case, as proven by Charles Lee's desperate speech in the flaming boat, it is a case of temporarily losing your mind in order to kill at all costs.
It was a defining moment for Connor, an act done in pain and despair.
I know you understand why some people may feel offended, but in case anyone else is reading this, I want them to understand why some jokes will displease, and why those who are displeased have the right to express and explain themselves.
Come to think of it, if a barber did give him that cut when he did not need nor want it, Connor might have had a bad reaction after all.
And if he was a contemporary Mohawk and his barber gave him that haircut just because "you're Mohawk, no? That's how you people wear it, no?", there would be one ass-beating coming up! Or maybe an offended "What do you mean 'you people'?"
Im sorry this was this long, but considering what it represents, Connor must not have loved it either considering what it represented. Today, some Native Americans will wear a similar haircut for many reasons, including identity; it's not as serious an issue, but considering the era Connor lived in, he did not do it with joy in his heart.

probebly, connor is very forgiving. If it had been Altiar or Ezio he would have taste their blade though.><

I just got to that bit. I didn't know he was going to shave his head, I didn't read anything about the game except the rough plot line, I didn't want any spoilers, so when it got to that cut scene I was like 'what are you going?!' Though I do love the war paint.

Connor's new hairstyle is a testament to his grief for his loss: both his father and best friend were killed by his own hands, in the same way(!).

Yeah, I was merely talking the actual symbolism in the hair style.

Except for the fact that:
1: He cut it himself.
2: He sure as hell didn't do it for looks.
3: He's actually from the mohawk tribe, and it's a common hairstyle among his people.
It's alright to have opinions. You don't have to like his hair in the end. But in saying that you basically wish it was a "mistake" or a "mess up" by a barber, you are actually being racist. The hairstyle is part of his culture, his heritage, and making Connor display rage at his own people's haircut is in so many ways an extremely wrong thing to do.

1: I know.
2: I know
3: I know. Actually, there's a reason for Mohawk people to wear long hair or shaved heads. It has to do with warfare. Look it up.
I don't wish for it to be a "mistake" or an offense, it's a joke and I'm sure if you look around DA you will find much more offensive art than this doodle. The reason I don't like it, if you must ask, is because I don't think it suits him. It has to do with aesthetics rather than ethnicity. I can also say I don't like his boots, same principle.
As for me being a racist, I believe you're stretching it a bit. You don't know me or my beliefs, so don't jump into conclusions, especially of that sort.
I'm glad you took the time to comment and I'm taking the first step in apologizing if my sketch made you uncomfortable in any way. I expect your retribution.

I do know that it has to do with warfare, so I won't be looking anything up.
I understand that this is not the most offensive thing I have come across, but considering I myself am Native, it hits home. I would hate to wear my hair in the style of my own people and have people ask me if my hair stylist messed up, which is basically what I gather from this in a way.
Sorry for the confusion, I didn't mean you yourself are being racist, but to me, this doodle comes of as being so. I think it's the simple fact of the alternate reality in which Connor is upset over having the hairstyle of his own people. That fact indeed makes me very uncomfortable.
I also just want to thank you for taking the time to reply to me like a normal human being as opposed to flaming me. And I do have to apologize for coming off rather rude in my first comment. I rarely every comment on things, and when I do, I usually take more time to plan them out.

I think I understand your reasoning now, and it certainly sounds less... degrading isn't the word I want to used, nor is insulting, because those aren't exactly right, lol. But you get my meaning. I see where you're coming from now. :]
Thanks for taking what I had to say seriously and not completely dismissing it. (Is it sad that I've seen most artists do just that, so that is what I expect nowadays? AH!) I hope I'm the only one that found a fault in this, but if not I hope the note on the devation helps. The last thing I want is for you to have to go through this on several occasions. Especially when some people out there are so immature and won't even read, haha.
And indeed we do. :] Thanks again for hearing me out.
