Description

Attention all Raven Gun Crews!

Following the reinstatement of the Raven's Battery Detachments to active duty, the Fire Direciton Centers of all detachments will submit reports of daily duties, training excersizes and combat operations. Detailed reports on the status of individual detachments and batteries will follow as they come in.

This week, the first report premiers with a shot taken from the Raven's secondary portside flak battery detachments during active combat operations against a Cylon vanguard force during the Battle of Aerilon, Helios Delta.

Our pilots, marines and escort crews rely on the protection of Raven's heavy guns, and there's nothing quite so satisfying as seeing those toasters sent to the Tartaros by a good beating flak and shrapnel.

So Say We All!

Love the layer of depth in this scene.

I really need to do a battle scene of my own at some point.

I really like the idea of the Omega boardside. It was something always planned into the model and would make an amazing scene.

Is there even any kind of starfighter outside of the Battlestar Galactica universe that can get through that hailstorm of fire? Because what i can think of won't even get close, X-wing? Shredded, Vulture droid? Scrapped, A-wing? Obliterated, TIE fighter? Don't even get me started, Fury Interceptor? Swiss cheese Swift Death? Smoldering junk, Thunderhawk? Don't even get me started, To'Duj? Maybe

You always somehow manage to find ways and answers that really surprises me and makes me see things in a new light. That is one of the many things i like about you when it comes to these kinds of talks because i always feel like i learn something from each of them. Anyways, it's good to see that we both agree on Vultures and A-wings being reduced to scrap metal instantly along with actually reminding me of how insanely fast and agile a TIE actually is. The Federation, Klingon and Romulan were also high on the list since even some of the biggest ships are extremely agile for their size and therefore have an easier time getting through. 40K, well yeah, for any hardened pilot it would be a piece of cake, especially for the astartes but i have just always seen the 40k strikecraft as slower and more cumbersome than many other space travelling vessels plus they also mostly lack shielding which takes me back to the X-wing, i mean it does have shielding but isn't it deflector shields only which are meant to absorb blaster bolts in contrary to a particle shield which absorbs kinetic projectiles? It's just that i know that most Battlestars use kinetic projectiles in their flak batteries and from the clips i have seen firing, it just seems impossible to go through all of that without taking minor to moderate damage even with shielding

...how come that i always seem to forget that point about pilots in 40K being literally hooked into the machine both with wires and in some cases neural link? That really makes the 40k fighters have an advantage since, as you say that the pilot would literally be one with their vessel in contrast to the others. As you have mentioned above, a good or ace pilot would be able to control their craft much better than normal and droids also become part of the vessel but still lack the human emotion and reactions in most cases which 100% gives the 40K pilots an advantage in reaction time and evasion since if the vessel take damage, then themselves also indirectly take damage

Yep, being one with your vessel gives you the best control of it
