The war fleets of the Last Commonwealth are great displays of Terran might assembled from the forces of many colonial and earthbound nations in a joint effort to protect humanity. These are not fleets of conquest or subjugation, but guardians of known space. Where others will go out and stir the interstellar dark, the forces of the Last Commonwealth will stand ready to strike down what was awoken.
For humanity to stand alone against the Confluence and its galactic tyranny, every system and world will have to be a fortress. Every lightyear of advance into the unknown must be secured and fortified and guarded at all times by forces most vigilant. A gap in those defenses, a lapse in judgment, or a mistake could jeopardize the fate of all humanity. That is why the fleets of the Last Commonwealth always grow in number, why their priority can never be called into question, and also why they won't back down before petty demands of national law and interest when those put the Mandate of Terra at risk.
