BEST PRESENT EVER

   Martha: It was Christmas morning and the world outside was very cold and a light snow had fallen during the night.
As I slowly started to wake up I realized that Yuma was not beside me. Which was strange, since he normally liked to sleep in; he was not a very early morning riser.

As I sat up in his and mine bed, I felt something on my wrist. I looked and saw that a green ribbon was tied to my wrist. I was so confused and didn't know what to think. I looked around and saw a note laying on Yumas pillow. I picked it up and read:

*Reading note/ you hear Yuma's voice*

Good morning my dearest Martha. I hope your night was filled with pleasant dreams. I'm sorry I could't wake up with you and see your beautiful face this morning. There was something I had to take care of before the morning came.

Knowing you, I'm sure you are very curious about the ribbon tied around your wrist. I also know full well that you like surprises. To solve the mystery simply follow this ribbon to find your Christmas present that awaits you at he end. I have a feeling you are going to love and enjoy it.

I will be waiting for you at the end of the ribbon to give your gift to you.

Yuma

   Martha: Excitement grew inside me. I couldn't believe that Yuma would put in this much effort just to give me a gift. Not even bothering to change out of my pajamas, I pulled on my rode and slippers and started to follow the ribbon. As I followed it, I gathered the ribbon and rolled it into a tiny ball.

As I followed the ribbon, I thought to myself that Yuma must have bought a lot of balls of ribbon. It lay on the floor, it crisscrossed on the ceiling. The mansion had been decorated for the holidays and was bright and cheerful.

Figuring that this ribbon would lead me to the living room another note came into view, tied to the ribbon on the ground.

It was another note from Yuma and it simply said:

*hear Yuma's voice again*

You are half way there. Are you getting excited? I'm sure you are.



Martha: Continuing, I finally reached what looked like the end of the ribbon. I stood outside the living room doors and saw that the green ribbon continued under it. Excited, I opened the door, ready to see what my Christmas surprise would be.

The room was decorated at it's finest. The tree shined bright with many lights and was covered in ornaments. A large fire burned in the grate and filled the room with warmth and a felling of coziness. I also caught the sweet smell of hot coco and saw that two very large mugs filled to the brim with coco topped with a mountain of whipped cream and peppermint crumbs stood waiting on the table, with a side of Christmas cookies on a plate.

As I slowly approached the tree (its base was obscured by the sofa in front of it) a low voice called from the other side.

Yuma: A very merry Christmas, Martha

Martha: I rolled up the last of the green ribbon and slowly looked over to the other side of the sofa. My eyes went wide with surprise and my face and body became very hot as I blushed in surprise and embarrassment.

  There was Yuma laying on the floor, under the Christmas tree, on top of a large red blanket, wrapped from head to foot in nothing other than the green Christmas ribbon that was said to lead me to my present.

I should have known. For I knew the only gift that would make me truly happy was to have Yuma and for us to enjoy the holidays and this magical Christmas day together.
