Yeah the throwing star necklace and earrings gave it away i've also read the four out of seven volumes of the Empowered series.

The thought going into to this was what would my Martial Arts Justice League look like. What I ended up doing was cherry picking from the ninja and martial arts women I have always wanted to illustrate and would work together well on a team if I wrote the book. There are a lot of women that almost made the cut but I ran out of room. lol
