I'm amazed with the clarity of this shot. I've got a shot of a swallowtail as well, but the focus is nothing near this.
I love how it appears to be starring right into the camera.

yes of course, because the insects are sleeping and you can get so close as you want. and after cold nights dew covers them.

you are right. as much more focal length you get less dof at the same aperture
