Description [::: OLC Rain Check :::]

JUST for the sake of bloody uploading something! I draw all day everyday! But i never have anything to show for it for you guys !

lol ... Rain check. How the hell did i not think of that before?

Speed paint at work at lunchbreak. The theme was "market", but when i do the speedpaints, gonna try and incorporate my own stuff in where i can! Not really happy with this one, but, it WAS a speedpaint

40 mins, Photoshop. No ref of course

i really like the colouring in this picture, i think blue and yellow definitely brings out the feeling of 'industrial' specially for a market atmosphere. and the little puddle effects are cute ^_^

nice, there's something about the slick motion of the brushstrokes that gives this a wet feel. indeed, you can really feel the water collecting in a pool on the ground and there's this wonderful sense of distorted reflection what with the way the colours in it break down into a streaky, crude mass of blue and white. there's also the vauge, bearly tangible mirror images of the buildings but the fact you don't put too much detail into these prevents the picture from becoming over worked (indeed, it's already pretty busy thanks the huge role the brush work plays).

you've also done a great job at creating a scene. this place feels so drab (the colour does alot to create this feeling. even the yellow light that warms the picture feels grimy as it perculates through the buildings)and slum like. i love the way the rain drops slice through the dense forms of the buildings.

No this is perfect, I need more stuff like this for inspiration because I've got a huge project involving backgrounds and scenery of grudgy looking places that looked pieced together from scrap.

I see what you mean about showing an environment now

And the more I look at speed painting,t he better I understand how to do it - it's all about building up on shapes and starting with the sillouette first, and adding the detail from 'thickest' to 'thinnest', yep?

Gah, I want to get this COW 100 stuff done so I can get down to doing stuff like this, I'm starting to figure it all out now >_<

damn, I will forever be perplexed as to how you manage to pull off a really cool scene with so little brush strokes.

As far as the image goes, it's actually not half bad for a speed painting. I really get a sense of the atmosphere and the moisture collecting everywhere. Some of the angles are a little wobbly, but overall it's a sound composition.

But let's talk about why you feel it so necessary to post images that you aren't particularly proud of. I'm not sure that it's helpful for you to post pictures just for the sake of not failing an audience who will get by without your imagery anyway. I don't say that to be unkind. It's just reality.

Here's the deal. If you get in the habit of posting things that you know (because you said so!) are mediocre, then you will always strive for mediocrity. Take a break, get yourself together if you need to. It's okay to take time off. Don't labor under the worry that people are judging you for it. That's a real motivation killer right there.

rather fitting for the weather atm...like the glow from the lights, probably could be a little darker, like it's pee'ing it down

Yes, some of us guys ... er, girls ... are very angry with fate for the fact that you so rarely upload here!

I am really happy with this, and not just as a speedpaint. It looks like raining. It does.
