Aww! I love it! I do love the Zerith coupling for sure. Your shading is beautiful and I love the different background.

Their story is more convincing than love stories from most of movies... not too romantic, bittersweet... and non-stereotypical.

Thanks^^

oh my gosh the shading you got on the hair is just perfect! and the background almost appears as if it was glowing. why don't you do more pencil work!? i have to say this shading is beyond pro.

Marvolo-san In reply to Kazimerus [2013-08-17 16:22:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for those kind words^^

Why i don't do more things in pencil?
Well... okay, i'll be honest: because i don't feel very confident with pencil and it takes me lots of time to use it. This piece took me whole month to complete... okay i wasn't sitting over it everyday, but it still took too many hours to complete.
And doing pictures with pencil requires big dose of realism... and that task is just too much. I don't have any art education, so i just don't know where should be light, where shadow... it's too much to handle.

Kazimerus In reply to Marvolo-san [2013-08-17 16:35:36 +0000 UTC]

I see what you mean. Some of my digital pieces took me like a month for the same reasons.

And really? no art classes at all? not even those ones the force you to take in school? (well... at least where i live the do)

All i have to say is this is worth the effort. Simply stunning

Marvolo-san In reply to Kazimerus [2013-08-17 17:24:06 +0000 UTC]

Well... it's like lot's of ideas for drawing keep popping up in my mind, while i still have to finish one thing><

Last art classes i had in first grade of junior high... About 8 years ago. And it was mostly about art styles and history, not very much about drawing. Maybe they said some basic things about colors or light source... but nothing serious... nothing which could be useful  now.

Well, is nice to know that XD

Kazimerus In reply to Marvolo-san [2013-08-17 18:42:48 +0000 UTC]

I've taken a few drawing classes in high school (once again, it's not that helpful it just forces you to draw - which helps you improve). and i would like to say you're better than like almost everyone i know that's taken a drawing class with me.

You don't need it. You just have a natural talent.

Marvolo-san In reply to Kazimerus [2013-08-18 14:49:34 +0000 UTC]

i've tried to follow instructions from drawing books... but they were usually in two cases: too boring and i already could manage somehow similar effect or too complicated... and even if i started then quickly get bored/don't find a time

Well... it's rather form of cheating than talent... i always redraw poses from photos, and need hours to draw even the simplest things. And there is definitelly more things that i cannot draw than i can

Kazimerus In reply to Marvolo-san [2013-08-18 15:07:40 +0000 UTC]

Using references from photos is actually a great way to draw. Even the stuff i draw from my head i still use references. Drawing from photos or other people's drawing is a great way to improve. i mostly copy stuff from photos or other drawing for practice (though i don't upload those to Deviantart). Copying things is the first step to being able to draw completely from your head. I don't think there's any great artist that didn't use references at some point. I know someone who is in college for graphics design and she used to draw from photos all the time. But eventually she didn't need them anymore.

Try practicing the things you cannot draw well. I couldn't draw people to save my life. Ever since i was a kid i only drew animals and fictional creatures. I started only drawing anime a couple years ago. It looked like absolute shit at first but it eventually got substantially better (my friend coldn't stop laughing at how bad my first attempts were -_-). But don't give up, all those hours will pay off!

Marvolo-san In reply to Kazimerus [2013-08-26 12:40:19 +0000 UTC]

"Redrawing" in most cases mean for me displaying photo on the screen put sheet of paper over it and redraw outlines of body... so basically it's stealing/cheating not  typical "using references"... I know it's bad, but it saves me lots of time while sketching.

No need for using references sounds like dream too me... well since i've spend over 4 years on DA i saw how some people made huge progress.. from drawing anatomically wrong and disproportional characters.... to very nice works, fully anatomically correct, with nice colors/shadding and even detailed backgrounds...

i know i should draw more.. human bodies, animals, things, plants... but everything takes so long, that i usually just do fanarts, not any things to help me draw better...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kazimerus In reply to Marvolo-san [2013-08-29 21:28:56 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry i do that sometimes, like when i want to finish something quickly or can't get the body right.

I actually think it helps. I mean even though you are tracing it, you're getting a feel for actually drawing it.

I can't draw without references, i mean i don't copy the picture exactly but i still need something to look at. And yes, i absolutely love looking at people's Deviantart pages and comparing their old artwork to their new artwork. It just shows me that i can get to their level with a lot of hard work and practice.

i also should draw more, but like you, i am very slow at drawing (digital pieces for me take a couple months when they probably shouldn't) and i also do fanarts, like 99.9% of my drawing are fanarts. But you're wrong about the part of not helping you draw better. Fanarts just help you draw better in a particular style. If it wasn't for fanarts i would probably still be drawing those ugly smiley face people with a stick figure body,

and even if you don't like your drawings, your coloring and shading are so amazing that it is a talent in itself

Marvolo-san In reply to Nefili94 [2013-04-06 17:55:37 +0000 UTC]

(Don't be so hard on yourself, the shading is just fine! ^^) That's a very sweet scene! Liked it with Tifa and Cloud but like it even better with Zack and Aerith. Makes me sad again when reminiscing Crisis Core though (which is a good kind of sadness because of the very good storyline).

Let's say i like complaining... particularly about myself.

I understand that "good kind of sadness".. especially if we're talking about Crisis Core

miya-cchi In reply to Marvolo-san [2013-01-01 12:11:24 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marvolo-san In reply to miya-cchi [2013-01-01 13:21:58 +0000 UTC]

Jakoś najbardziej do gustu przypadła mi Lulu.. chociaż Aaron i Kimahri też byli spoko

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

miya-cchi In reply to Marvolo-san [2013-01-01 13:26:39 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marvolo-san In reply to miya-cchi [2013-01-01 13:47:39 +0000 UTC]

Czasem to wkurza...

A właśnie Aaron i Lulu mieli świetnie dobranych aktorów głosowych i styl^^

No, dlatego irytuje mnie jego głos. Niemal w każdym animu brzmi identycznie :s
