Description She was as thin as her kittens!

I kinda felt bad for having startled her like that, so I went home and brought back some fresh milk (about one liter), in a fairly large bowl that I stole from my kitchen.
A minute later, the bowl was empty.

Now I'm required to fill up the darned bowl every time I see them, or Mama Kitty over there starts giving me this sad 'look', which I hate.
And she's even trained her kittens to do the same!

Moral of the story:
Never steal bowls from kitchens.

From my URBAN CATS series.

I love your urban cat photography and the stories you bring with them. It's really nice of you to feed this skinny mom and her kittens. There's probably nothing more difficult than being a starving mother and having starving babies which feed from something that still takes energy from you to produce.

Did she digest the milk okay, though? I heard that a lot of cats are actually lactose intolerant.

I made friends with a stray cat myself some time ago, which got abandoned after his owners died of age. We cuddled during the first few times we met, then I started feeding him cat food so he'd survive winter. I couldn't keep him because I have a cat allergy, but I tried to be with him as long as it would allow me. So far he's surviving his third (or fourth) winter well. I rarely see him during that freezing season though because he likes to remain in secret hideouts for warmth often.

But he's a grateful little sweetheart when it's warm enough for us to meet more regularly. I remember the first time he saw me unpack cat food for him, he was so happy that he aggressively cuddled everything, including my hands. I could barely even open the cat food because his purring head was in the way. xD And after he ate, he'd curl up on my lap, continued to purr powerfully, knead me, and do all kinds of cat love signs. <3 Cat friendship is magical. Sometimes he'd actually get angry when I had stop cuddling and go home. Nobody is happy about this. xD

That cat has no idea how lucky he is to have someone like you in his life. But then again, he probably does. Haha!
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful heartwarming story.

P.S.
She had no problem digesting the milk.

No! Moral of the story : never give a damn to ALL cats in the world. (not a cat hater, but when we give ourselves into their sad looking eyes, they will overpower us, and behave like a nagging spouse everyone hates.)

If a sleeping cat could make Prophet Muhammad almost miss his prayers (he had to cut off part of his robe so as not to disturb the slumbering feline), us normal folk don't stand a bloody chance in hell against them!

splendidofsun In reply to MARX77 [2013-07-06 15:48:36 +0000 UTC]

I still prefer dogs though, despite everything that our Prophet has done to all cat he met during his life :grumpy: dogs are more loyal, they don't nag (this is the important point), and they assure humans safety.
The only thing that makes me don't like cat -or any life being- is their constant nagging. They know they can be independent organism yet when they find human who are willing to provide what they need, they take advantage of them.

-anyway, it's like Cat's psychology 101 class -
