Awww thank you so much! Translucent sculpey is such a wonder to work with, it seemed perfect for snails to me! I was afraid that I didn't pick up the details that well in the photos, but you've made me feel much better about that!

I would have picked a different shell if I way you, but nevertheless, the snail looks adorable! I love the way he's a bit transparent, great choice of clay The little... things... like dots... can't find the English word, or dear xD Anyway, the thingies all around him that stand out really look nice. If he was smooth he wouldn't look so realistic

MaryBunnie In reply to aque-mizuhara [2011-03-11 15:55:10 +0000 UTC]

thank you! I found a bunch of shells in my closet and told me she was making a snail critter and I was like eeek I wana make one too! I really like the way hers looks too ^-^ His shell is a little small for him I realized as I was making him, he kept getting longer and fatter hehehe so he is a misfit I should have at least taken a picture of the swirly side of the shell *facepalm*
I still have to search my computer for more pictures of the chubby dragon too.. I put things in folders and then totally forget where they are haha. ooooh you mean his hmmm i cant think of the word either, his dimpley things maybe? haha I was hoping theyd look nice ^-^ yay

Love it! where do you buy your translucent polymer clay?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaryBunnie In reply to Jamie-Silks [2011-03-10 01:16:54 +0000 UTC]

thank you! I go to a craftstore called Michaels, they sell translucent polymer clay in the sculpey brand, the premo sculpey brand, and the fimo brand! I used the premo sculpey brand, you can probably easily get it off of amazon.com or ebay if you cannot find it at a craftstore near you! I hope this helps

I had to really look for it, it can be an off white to a sort of odd tan color, so i missed it at first! Your welcome best of luck to you!

Michaels is were I get all my supplies too XD Except for the eirlier last week. I went to Northern Iowa to a Hobby Lobby with my parents. They had some clays that Micheals didn't sell.

Everyone tells me that Hobby Lobbys are like the greatest gift to artists! I think the closest one to me is a couple hours away.. My michaels isnt especially good either

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KumoriYori In reply to MaryBunnie [2011-03-12 04:51:33 +0000 UTC]

Hobby Lobby is great. It has fabric AND art supplies. Best place to go for puppet supplies. If you ever plan to make a puppet, plan a trip to Hobby Lobby. then anything Hobby Lobby does not have, try Michaels.

After I finish all of my current big projects I really want to make a puppet! I'm making myself be good and finish everything else first though I will definately be going to a hobby lobby when it is time for that project, It would be so fun to make art puppets and dolls!

KumoriYori In reply to MaryBunnie [2011-03-12 05:46:16 +0000 UTC]

Did you happen to favorite that artist that had the two instructions listed on how to make a puppet? It will help big time

KumoriYori In reply to MaryBunnie [2011-03-12 05:59:27 +0000 UTC]

*nods* It is best to have a reference. There was several things I forgot to get by not writing the supplies down. You will be suprized how many things you can make with a yard of foux fur!I plan to get a wool like fabric after i finally make some puppets.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaryBunnie In reply to KumoriYori [2011-03-12 06:24:33 +0000 UTC]

I did that already today, I wanted to buy metallic paint at michaels but forgot *facepalm* I'd love to get my hands on some faux fur! Apparently too if you get white you can airbrush it to any color you would like, although I do not have an airbrusher I think they are expensive! I realy need some fur for my bandersnatch monster ^^
are you going to use the wool on more puppets? It would make good fur

KumoriYori In reply to MaryBunnie [2011-03-12 06:50:25 +0000 UTC]

Yep. I think my next animal mix will be something in the lines of a sheep... with something else >.< Any idea's? lol I have to make the first one first though. I seen this person use real animal pelts like a fox or coyote and Pheasant. I might try something like that. OHHH!! A sheep and wolf mix or sheep and lion mix would be nice! Natural enemies combined. You could do a Rabbit / Fox mix!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaryBunnie In reply to KumoriYori [2011-03-12 07:03:07 +0000 UTC]

Opposites are a great idea! Wolf and sheep would be fun, and lion and sheep would be like the "lion laying with the lamb" sort of thing I think both would be a big hit! Whoa You have inspired me again Rabbit Fox would be actually really cute ^-^ or cool, depending on if it was chibi or realistic

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KumoriYori In reply to MaryBunnie [2011-03-12 07:18:06 +0000 UTC]

Why not both One of each?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaryBunnie In reply to KumoriYori [2011-03-13 03:54:07 +0000 UTC]

then i could take photos of them together! sometimes my style looks so different, it would be a great example
