yes... I think the aquaman comics were partly inspired by Lovecraft, so it makes sense..  Shadow over Innsmouth is probably my favourite of his stories!

Yeah, I love that one, too. I really like his earlier stuff too, like the outsider and celephais.

oh yes, those are great.   Long time since I read them, but I remember those two.  Especially Celephaïs..  My copy of The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories is actually falling apart..

Oh yes!...  Really like Poe's work too.   Especially "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket" but all his stuff is great.  I particularly like "The Cask of Amontillado"    mmm, that would make for some great illustrations...  My other favourite writer is Borges, I don't know if you've read his work?

My favorite story by Poe is Berenice, I just thought of it because I find the atmosphere very similar, I don't know why. 
Yeah I know some Borges, I read some stories while I studied German language. The circular ruins is my favorite by him. And the one about the library. I like his stories but I'm not always in the mood for them, I find them a bit hard to follow sometimes.

You should read it, it's beautiful written and fucked up at the same time. 
No it's not a secret It's a line from the Robert Palmer song Johnny and Mary that I really like.

It sounds nice, and I can understand everything, in English I can't understand every weird descriptive word Lovecraft comes up with.

I'm one of the many s who loves being too, and I speak German, French, Spanish and a bit of Italian, not very well, but it's something   I read some Tolkien in German - it was way better than the original   Lovecraft has quite a difficult style, a lot of English-speaking readers get put off by that.

Wow that's awesome! I once tried to learn some Swedish and got stuck quite early. I can understand a bit when it's written down but as soon as they start talking it's over.
I think Tolkien works very well in German. Normally I prefer the English version but I don't know, something about the setting and certain words.. it just seems like it should be in German. 
Yeah, I'm definitely struggling with the Lovecraft-English, too.

well, it's normal.  After all, Lovecraft is trying to express concepts that really go beyond any language (except the language of the Old Ones, lol)…  he is always describing things as "nameless", "incomprehensible" or "indescribable".  He keeps referring to a book called "Unaussprechliche Kulten" (I think he means indescribable, not just hard to pronounce!).. I think he would very much enjoy your paintings though
