Description Here's Russian cannibal hag named Baba Yaga. I guess she's ate somebody again and now playing her balalaika.

probably some stupid boy who came too close to her house.

Though I do have a question, I've heard stories about how Vasilisa's father's first wife had been Baba Yaga disguised as a maid and she faked her own death and that's how Vasilisa got the doll (and why Bab Yaga didn't eat her)
Have you heard anything like that before?

You are welcome. As to how I'm doing... I wish i could say I was doing well...but not so much. Lean times here for my family and I fear...

Don't be, and I'll tell you why. Cuz we Russians live like that for almost 100 years now, on the edge of starvation, survival, between civil wars and revolutions. My friend, for example, lives with her three children and no husband for 200 dollars salary per month. And somehow we're alive. So don't worry, you are OK)))

I suppose it's all relative: you can always find someone who is doing worse than one's self. But that is not always a fair comparison really as the only thing one can ever really know is one's own life and situation. Things are getting bad in the US...very bad...and the only excuse is the increasing avarice and greed of a very small but powerful minority... We have to worry about things like being able to continue to get my wife's medicine- she has MS- as well as my own medicine- I have high blood pressure- and in the US without insurance they make it nearly impossible to do so...

Very very sorry ( Same here... Still I invite you to Russia - at least here you'll be able to express yourself as a dollmaker ))) I think sometimes it's important to just go with the flow and force ourselves to stay positive no matter what... Bad mood ruins your health (my mom had high blood pressure for 2 years, but she stayed calm and cured somehow)... I wish I could do something good for you though...
maybe that will cheer you up a bit...

Thank you sweetheart- but I think moving to another country where I do not even speak the language at my age and with our health issues may not be practical, although I think your country has a far greater appreciation of it's artists and artists in general than the US has ever had historically and currently...But thank you for being a friend my dear and for your correspondence- it helps and it matters.

And I'm afraid that song- though lovely and one of my all time favorites- is one that I've always found really very sad...because it's about pretending and lying about how you really feel- at least lying about it on the surface, and denying your true feelings is as damaging to ones health- both mental and physical- as is letting it all get to you too much...but I've never been one for fooling myself as to how I feel about things I'm afraid...ironic considering the theme of most of my work isn't it? But it means a great deal to me that you care and that you try to make me feel better and that very act means a very great deal to me my dear lovely friend.

It's nice to see Baba Yaga in a cheery mood--and playing a balalaika instead of chasing people with her mortar and pestle!

Well, in our pop culture baba yaga is more like a comic figure these days))) Russian actor Millar created this new side of the character

Check this out - Baba Yaga and the robbers plan to "kill" good guys in the fairytale movie "Morozko" (1964). Russian version, but I think it's understandable)))
