Description
There's a story behind two of these pieces. The lower smaller square panel to the left was originally a gift to my mother's parents. When they died and we were sorting through their condo, it was decided that items that were gifts to the Coxes (my mother went back to her maiden name after she divorced my father), would go back to the people who originally gave them. (That seems to becoming a general rule when sorting through deceased relatives' possessions.) So my mother took that panel back.

The lower rectangular piece in the center was originally meant to be part of a fireplace screen. The house at my mother and stepfather's previous address had two fireplaces that were originally coal burning fireplaces. And as such, they were too small for traditional fireplace screens to fit. They managed to find a screen to fit one of the fireplaces but couldn't find another one. So my mother started working on making a fireplace screen herself for the second fireplace. However, by the time the central panel and the two side panels were completed construction on this house at our current address was completed and they moved in and so the fireplace screen was no longer needed at the original address but of course was too small to use as a fireplace screen here. So she started showing the central panel and the two side panels in gallery shows. The two side panels were shown as a set and central panel was shown as a separate piece. The two side panels eventually sold. The center panel is still here.

The other four pieces shown were bought from various art shows.
