Well I only use image ready for the animations, for everything else I use photoshop.
And time.... All depends on a few things: If there is electricity at home (here are often the blackouts, damn country!!), how much motivated I'm at the moment, and if I'm tired, sleepy or something else.... But I take my time. I spend hours on my pixels.
