Welp. Marx is confirmed to be a BOSS in Smash Bros. Ultimate. ( <= SPOILER WARNING, proceed with caution.)As one of my personally most wanted characters to be playable in Smash, I'd be LYING if I said I wasn't even slightly disappointed.
So much for the Star Allies moveset... I would've thought for sure he'd be a great DLC candidate, but now I'm highly doubtful for his chances at this point.
If anything, I'm just happy he's actually in the game in some fashion besides being a Spirit, and I guess I'll just have to suck it up and accept his fate.
On a positive note, Ridley used to also be a boss, and now he's playable. Also, thanks to Star Allies' moveset, there's still lots of potential for Marx's moveset options, so I'll ALWAYS root for a playable Marx someday.
And if Spirits STILL don't deconfirm characters, then the only character I REALLY want now is our beloved Bandana Boy. (and to a lesser extent, the Frog-gotten legend.)
If this is not the last Smash game, then there's always next time, my little communist, but as of now, it just isn't your time to shine.... yet.

Why?
He's a fairly popular character amongst us Kirby fans, plus he's one of Sakurai's very OWN creations.
It'd be another villain to the roster, plus he'd have a unique moveset thanks to the inspired moveset from Kirby Star Allies.
Of course, Bandana Waddle Dee should come first as the 4th Kirby rep, but also having Marx trailing behind him would by no means be a bad choice.

You say he's one of Sakurai's creations as if that's a selling point. If anything, we need more representation for Kirby games he didn't direct.
Marx feels much more appropriate as a boss. After Bandanna Dee, I'd go with Adeleine. I get your point about the lack of villains but the thing is Kirby villains tend to be either redeemed or eldritch abominations that would need a serious downsizing.

I doubt Adeleine would even be considered especially if Sakurai's own bias happens to get in her way. She's not even a Spirit in Ultimate, which is rather odd indeed, but I don't think it's a sign that indicates her chances either. Both Marx and Ade have good movesets to pull from KSA, but if the "Sakurai bias" is to be believed, I can honestly see him rather choosing Marx over Adeleine anyway, but who knows? Sakurai won't always be around forever to direct Smash, after all.
Not to mention Ade will still have to compete with other popular Kirby reps for a possible 5th spot besides the Main Dee himself, such as Gooey, Daroach, Magolor, Suzie, Prince Fluff, etc.

Depending on how long Nintendo plans to add new content to Smash Ultimate, you might (emphasis on MIGHT) not have to wait for a "next time." Ultimate in particular is starting to shatter the fan "rule" that characters are always stuck with one role (The Moon, Rathalos, Giga Bowser, Ganon, etc.). We're moving into uncharted territory!

Marx is the final boss of Kirby, Rosalina and inkling’s Classic Mode.

Though I'm EXTREMELY GLAD that Maglor is in Star Allies now, it feels bad he may not be present in Smash Bros. Marx, at least, has become quite the celebrity enough to be in Smash Ultimate, at least. I don't wanna look at the rest of the bosses but I'm almost certain Magolor/Maglor won't be there. Being a boss is the highest honor in my eyes, I like them a bit more than side characters. I'm not gonna pretend I know how you fee; I hope this, at least, cheers you up a little.

REeaaaaaally wish I hadn't taken a closer look at this upload, because I would have flipped my shit seeing him in the game unspoiled. But the past is the past.
