Marina: If everyone would like to quieten down, allow Marie to give her final words before the coffin gets lowered...
[The crowd shushes down as Marie drops to her knees in front of the gravestone]
Marie: Thank you. Now...I mean...I don’t know what you want me to say. Callie was my cousin. Not sister. Cousin. But we’ve been as close as sisters ever since we won that first singing contest, all those years ago. For years we worked as a duo, in shops and bars, then in the studio, finally getting to idol status. Then that Splatfest happened, things went one way and she went the other. Got kidnapped, and...well. Now she’s here. Another victim of those dirty, ugly Octo types! [turns to Eight] Uh...no offence.
Eight: I mind not.
Marie: Sorry, she was...she was one of the best relatives I could ask for. Smart, funny, an eye-catcher for her fans, I...I already miss her. [places hand on the gravestone] Goodbye, Cal...I’m sorry…
[Marie gets to her knees and stares at the others]
Pearl: Uh...we're sorry too, Marie. For your loss.
Marina: So...so sorry...
Three: Condolences, Two. She was...a good friend.

What was that? More suffering? You want Marie to suffer more? No? WELL you're gonna get it anyhow.
This is...kind of a sequel to The Divider, goin' back to that again for the...second-ish time. It is also a good look into a chapter of Splatoon: Crimson Gaze, specifically the second. After Callie is...very deadified, a funeral is held for her in short order. In the story itself, it's a little different; the funeral is public, so more people are there, it's raining (I tried to get it to rain, but my effects wouldn't work) and the funeral would be on the outskirts of Inkopolis. Cuttlefish is there, too, and I was going to include him, but his model has a few...issues. Mainly that it's massive compared to the Inklings and he lacks facial expressions entirely. Anyway, the funeral proceeds without much in the way of fanfare, everyone says their goodbyes and it is confirmed that Turf War has been cancelled for now. Today is a day of mourning for the passed-on Squid Sister. Marie's obviously having a miserable time, and she's being bitey to Four, who failed so hard to rescue her cousin, as far as she's aware. If only she knew those white, puffy, enflamed eyes would cause her woes she could never imagine...
Oh yes and Four isn't closing an eye. She actually only has one. Some Octo scum blew out the other, so she's kind of got her own demons to deal with right now.
